  1. England is a parliamentary democracy, and a constitutional monarchy. This government was established in 1707. The nation’s currency, or form of money, is pounds. Its capital is London, England which contains over 7 million people. The climate is temperate, and has lots of rainfall due to the North Atlantic Current. The main Religions in this country are catholic, and protestant. Some fun facts about England are that it is 74 times smaller than the U.S, 59 times smaller than Australia, and 3 times smaller than Japan. England is a main location for tourism, and is a great place to visit.

  2. I choose Ireland because out of all the countries that we have learned about, I think this is the best one. One interesting fact is that Ireland was at one time very poor. Also they relyed on one crop, potatoes. They had gone through a famin that wiped out there whole potato crop and many died, but many came to America to restart their lives. That's why I liked to learn about Ireland

  3. The country I choose is France. The capital of France is Paris. Paris is the fashion industry of the world. France lies in the middle of the Northern European Plain. The population of France is 60.7 million people. One of the main industries is cheese making. They make over 270 different kinds of cheese. They are also known for making wines. They also make a lot of different kinds of wines. In France they even have a memorial for al soldiers who went missing and the Unknown Soldier. France is one of the most important countries in the world because of all the exports it does. This is why I am grateful to have a place like this is our world.

  5. I chose to write about the Republic of Ireland. In 1922 the Republic of Ireland won its independence from the United Kingdom. The Republic of Ireland is different from North Ireland because North Ireland is still part the United Kingdom and they are mainly Protestants. The capital of the Republic of Ireland is Dublin. Also it is called the Emerald Isle because of beauty of the landscape staying green all year round. In the Republic of Ireland they have low lying areas that are rich in peat or plants that have partly decayed in water. Peats are the bogs or low lands. The reason chose the Republic of Ireland is because that is the part of Ireland my family came from.

Norway's fjords provide fish for food and export. Norway is also known for its Vikings that raided areas of Europ, Africa, and other countries many years ago. Norway has a very cold climate all year long. The Viking that discovered America, almost 1,000 years before Christopher Columbus, was Leif Ericson.

  7. I have chosen Denmark to write this paragraph because I thought it was really fascinating. Denmark is the smallest of the five countries in Scandinavia and its capital is Copenhagen. The language that most people in Denmark speak is Danish and its native name is “Danmark”. The head of Denmark is Queen Margrethe II. The main religion is Protestant Lutheran. Denmark might not be the biggest part of Scandinavia but it is very interesting.

  9. I picked the country of France, which is in the heartland of Europe. It is bordered to the northeast by Belgium, Luxembourg, abd Netherlands. France has very rich soil, allowing it's farmland to be very productive. France's first area of specialization is wine and second, is making cheese and other dairy products. The main economic activities are farming and industry. The government of France is a democratic republic with a president and a prime minister. The main language of France is French, and the main religion is Roman Catholic. This is what I found out about the country of France.

  10. The country that I choose is the country is the Scandinavian country of Iceland. I choose Iceland because of its unique climate and place on the map. It is located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which is a divergent boundary. This causes many hot springs and geysers. Geysers shoot hot water and steam out into the air. It has a cold climate but still has grass and good farming. I have learned from researching Iceland on my own that the Vikings named it Iceland and Greenland for their climates. The catch is that Iceland has better farming and is more green than Greenland. The Vikings wanted Iceland to themselves and wanted people to go to Greenland. Iceland is amazingly interesting.

  14. The country I choose was Ireland. I found out alot of interesting things about Ireland when we learned about it. First, I want to say that there flag is a Tricolor with three colors: green, white, and orange.Ireland's nickname is the Emarald Isle because it's regular rainfall produces lush, green field's year round. Nearly one third of the people live in Dublin it's Capitol. Irish dancing is preformed all around the world even in the USA. One other thing I want to say is that the center of Ireland is a low-lying plain with rolling hills and that the coastal area's are rocky highlands. Those are some things I learned about Ireland.

  15. The land of Ireland is relatively a low lying area. Regular rainfall produces lush, green fields, that is why it's nickname is the Emerald Isle. The people of Ireland trace their ancestry back to the Celts. 60 precent of Ireland's people live in cities. One third of the population live in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. In the 1800's, farming was the main source of employement for many people, but disease destroyed the potato crop. Today, manufacturing employs more people than farming does.

  16. I picked Iceland for this blog. Iceland's capital and largest city is Reykjavik. The climate of Iceland's coast is sub-polar oceanic. Iceland's official written and spoken language is Icelandic, a North Germanic language descended from Old Norse. Iceland's special feature are geysers. Geysers are hot springs formed from the hot steam within the middle of the earth. Iceland sits farther away from the rest of the Scandinavian countries. 18. I chose a country that is in the region of the United Kingdom known as England. I chose this country because this is my favorite out of the region and out of the choices Mrs. Sholl gave us. This is an island country. The English flag consists of the colors blue, red, and white. This is the biggest country in the U.K. This country consists two thirds of the U.K.The capital of the U.K happens to be in England and is the biggest city ...London. This city is the home to the royal family who live in Buckingham Palace.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The country I have chosen is Iceland. Iceland is part of Scandinavia, and has a special feature, geysers. The island of Iceland sits on top of where two tectonic plates meet. The two plates are pulling away from each other causing hot magma to rise to the surface, which creates hot springs and geysers. Iceland has over 200 volcanoes but many are not active.

  20. The facts I have learned that I will share will be based on the country of Norway. The country of Norway is in Scandinavia. Norway's capital is Oslo. Norway is known for its many beautiful and scenic fjords, which are narrow inletss of the sea. The fjords were carved out by glaciers long ago. They provide inland waterways that provide fish for food and export. Today Norway is a constitutional monarchy along with the countries of Denmark, and Sweden. I thought it would be interesting to share that there are more Norweigan descendants living in the U.S than Norway itself!

  21. England’s capital, London is what I am about to tell you about. In the city of Westminster is where most of Parliament and government offices are located. Buckingham Palace, where the queen and royal family live, is also located here. London is in the southeast of England. The language spoken in London is English, though some words and terms are different from ours. London is the biggest city in Britain and in Europe. About 12 per cent of Britain’s total population lives in London. London was the first city in the world to have and underground railway.

  22. France is located in the heart of Western Europe and is Europe's second largest country. Most of Northern France is part of the vast Northern European Plain. Its three small neighbors to the northeast are known as the Benelux countries. The capital of France is Paris. In Paris, France, is the Effiel Tower, a famous landmark. France has a mild or warm climate and rich soil that is ideal for farming. Because of this, many grapes can be grown and are then turned into wine. The grapes grow so productively, that it is an area of specialization for France. Specialization is focusing efforts on certain economic activities to make the best of resources. Another of France's areas of specialization is cheese. Farmers use milk of dairy cattle and sheep to produce about 250 kinds of world famous cheese. It is then exported, along with other food products to countries that can't produce them.

  23. The country I chose is Sweden which is in Scandinavia. For several hundred years Sweden ruled Finland, its neighbor. Sweden is a constitutional monarchy. Sweden has reserves of iron ore that it uses to produce cars. Sweden uses nuclear power and oil as a combination for power. Forests and lakes cover most of Sweden. Mountains run along the border of Sweden. Plains stretch over the southern part of Sweden. This is information I learned about Sweden.

  24. The country I chose was France. An interesting fact I learned that France produces over 250 types of cheese. France use to be ruled by kings and queens. The French people started what is called the French Revolution. After that they got their independence, but the new ruler always wanted war. He attacked most of Europe, and finally he lost. People took him to an island, and left him there. A couple of months later he came back again. Now a president is the leader of the country.

To the south of England is the English Channel. The English Channel separates England, Scotland, and Wales from the European Continent.

  26. England is the country I have chosen to write about. When someone says they're going to Europe England always comes to my mind. England is a very popular country through the world. England used to have control over America, India, and much more places. Other countries like France and Germany cannot take control over England because they are separated by the English Channel. London is the capital of England and many people of England live in London. London is also very popular in Europe. London also has very attractive sights like Big Ben which is a clock and bell that is very popular throughout London. Another sight is the Palace of Westminster which is the meeting place of the two houses of the Parliament of The United Kingdom- the House of Lords and the House of Commons. England is a important country to know about in school.

  27. Sweden, one of the five countries of Scandinavia, is bordered by Norway and Finland. Sweden is the third largest country of what is known as the European Union. Long ago, Sweden was a very quiet, peaceful place, and very independent too. One day Sweden decided it was going to build up its empire, to form what is known as the Swedish Empire. The Swedish Empire began to take over different territories, such as Finland, to make it larger and more powerful. The empire existed until 1809, when Russia ended the reign of the famous empire. Sweden today is a constitutional monarchy as well as a parliamentary democracy. Sweden also has a successful economy. In 2010, Sweden was crowned fourth in the world for the Economist’s Democracy Index and ranked ninth in the United Nations’ Human Development Index. Since the last war in 1814, Sweden has not been involved in any war-related activity. Sweden, once again is a peaceful country with a very good economy.

The capital of the Netherlands is Amsterdam, which is also Holland’s largest city. The main language of the Netherlands is Dutch. The Netherlands is part of the European Union (EU), and if a country is part of the EU, the euro is part of the currency there. A popular sport in the Netherlands is soccer (called football in Europe), and in fact, Holland was the runner-up in the 2010 Men’s World Cup. A fun fact about Holland is that 21% of its population is located under sea level.

  29. The country I am going to talk about is England. We learned so much about this country like how it is a constitutional monarchy, which is where the country has a king and queen but they only serve as the head of state while the parliament actually runs the country. I also learned about the flag, it is nicknamed the union jack and is red, white, and blue. The union jack is a combination of England (the cross of Saint George), Scotland (the cross of Saint Andrew), and Ireland (the cross of Saint Patrick). England is bordered by Scotland (northern), whales (western) and the North Sea as its border on the eastern side. In southeastern England the Thames River helped make London, the capital of England, a center for world trade. I hope you enjoyed reading my paragraph on England as much as I enjoyed learning about it in school.

The Irish trace their ancestry to the Celts, who settled the island hundreds of years ago. Most people in The Republic of Ireland are Roman Catholic. Between the 1960’s and the 1990’s there was a dispute because the Catholics in Northern Ireland would like to unite Ireland, but the Protestants in Northern Ireland would like to remain part of the UK. In 1998 leaders of the UK and the Republic of Ireland met with leaders of both sides in Northern Ireland.
